Welcome to the blog of the 2012-2013 Wilderness and Civilization program at the University of Montana. Offered each year in the Fall and Spring semester, the program accepts 25 students from around the country to participate in an in-depth study of land management, natural resource conservation, environmental ethics, Native American studies, ecology and environmental policy at the University of Montana. The program meets each week throughout the semester to supplement our classroom activities with field trips and hands-on experiences throughout the western U.S. to learn from practitioners, activists, scientists, artists, and community leaders. We travel, learn, discover, create, and most of all, we ask big questions and find joy in the journeys we take to find the answers. These are our stories.
